I have incorporated Project Mindful Movement into my classroom once a week. The kids look forward to it each week! I have noticed an increase in calmness and focus on the days we practice. It is something I need to find a way to incorporate daily. The kids NEED it!
I teach 2nd grade at an inner city school. The kids in my class come to school with a lot of emotional stress from home. Several of my kids have been exposed to very traumatic events which causes a great deal of stress. I am always looking for new ways to help my students self regulate, so they are ready to learn. This year I began implementing Project Mindful Movement and I have seen a tremendous change in my student’s attitudes. They are using the daily affirmations throughout the day. I can hear kids saying things like “I am focused and ready to learn” before beginning an assessment. My students have learned how to take “Deep Belly Breaths “ when they mad or frustrated over something. They especially love the “Lions Breath” My kids look forward to the new lessons each week. Project Mindful Movement has not only helped my students, but it has also helped me as their teacher. There are many moments in the day when I stand tall in “Mountain Pose” and take several deep breaths. This has helped calm me down in certain situations. We love everything about Project Mindful Movement!
As a middle school special education teacher, my students all experience stress in school due to academic and behavioral strains. Project Mindful Movement helps my students focus better on their work while encouraging them to set goals to work on so they can say they accomplished something. They are better behaved and also having coping mechanisms to use for stress, focus, and relaxing. If is important for them to feel successful, but to also have something to constantly work on.
I have two kids on the Autism spectrum, and I wanted them to experience the benefits of developing a mindfulness practice. The problem was that I didn’t know where to start. Project Mindful Movement has made it easy to start each day mindfully!!
Project Mindful Movement is key to my students’ success. With my students not having recess, not having a specialty every day, sometimes they feel a little locked up in the classroom. Being able to do something different really helps them academically. As a whole class I know that there are certain activities that they really like. They always ask to go back to the cloud, so that’s probably their favorite. My students are able to cope with their emotions better and I don’t know if it’s something they even realize there doing but I think from these practices its kind of embedded into them. I’ve just noticed a big difference with my students since we’ve started this!
Project Mindful Movement has been so transformational in our home! My two girls (1st grade and 3rd grade) look forward to the projects and I love doing them too! I can tell they are making an impact as they talk about them throughout the day and look for ways to continue the ‘practice’ all day long! THANK YOU Project Mindful Movement!
As a homeschooling family, we like to start our day off by engaging our bodies. Ignite the energy is probably one of our favorite ones to get us ready for the day. Children aren’t made for endless hours of study, so after awhile we will have to get some of that pent up energy out. Now that we’ve found Project Mindful Movement, we incorporate that to bring us back into a school mindset. I’ve noticed that it has really helped a lot to bring the kids back down into a let’s get school done kind of mindset. It’s been great!
The children have been concentrating better and they’re really paying attention to their work better. Every day just about, we stop and do some of the exercises and talk about the positive things that they are thinking about. It gives them a break from just school work and they have really enjoyed that. It gives them a time to be free to do different things that they normally wouldn’t be able to do and I think it’s really really important. It’s something my student’s really look forward to!
I enjoyed the ease of introducing Project Mindful Movement into my classroom. The curriculum was very easy to follow, I enjoyed the videos and being able to put those on and join in with the students in learning the different mindful movement poses each day, it really built a strong classroom community. We began our day as part of our morning routine with one of the mindful lessons and we would do the video and then we would do the activity together. It ws a great positive way for my students to start their day!
